Midnight Sleeping Bethlehem
Bright thy stars in solemn night.
Sudden glory floods thy hillside,
Startled shepherds wake in fright.
Angel messengers appear,
Shepherd listen first in fear,
Till they hear these words of cheer
"God's own son is given here.
0 (1-3)
Highest Glory Lord to thee,
Boundless joy to all men be."

Now sleeping Bethlehem,
there in stable lanterns glow.
Lies a holy babe midst the ox and ass,
gently swathed in manger low.
Heaven`s one of matchless worth,
Living word through humble birth,
Come to ransom sons of earth.
Come to rid our soul of dearth.

Scholars from the orient came,
led from light from yon star bright.
Knowing there was born from among the Jews,
God of glory, God of might.
Traveling miles and miles from hence,
passing desert so immense.
Bringing gifts of great expense,
Gold and myrrh and frankincense.

Sin has man from God disjoin,
Death its fruit our lives defiled.
On this night of night,
Christ incarnate came,
God and sinners reconciled.
Christ my shepherd He must be,
how can I stray from thee?

Cleanse my heart a temple be,
Not like the Inn, no room for thee.
