Chien Su Fong was born in Melaka, Malaysia in 1970. He received both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mathematics from University of Malaya (UM) in 1995 and 1998 respectively. He has been working with Multimedia University (MMU) since 07/1997. During his tenure, he obtained his Ph.D degree from MMU on 19/3/2002. In 1998, he was awarded NTT-MSC Research Training Internship to the NTT Network Service Innovation Laboratory in Yokosuka R&D Center from 09/1998 to 08/1999. He is currently working as an associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology in MMU. He is a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA).

Muhazam Mustapha acquired his first degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, majoring in Computer Engineering, from the University of Science Malaysia. After graduation in 1995, he worked as an engineer in Advanced Micro Devices (Penang) Malaysia. In June 1998, he joined the academic line in the newly established Multimedia University (MMU) in Malaysia. From this university he obtained his masters' degree in Mathematical Engineering in 2004. Having served the university for almost 10 years, he then joined the Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Iowa, USA, in February 2008 for a second, professional-based masters' degree in Computer Science called Compro. Computer programming has always fascinates Muhazam. He has been programming since he was 15. In his work in MMU, his main task had been mostly related to programming. In his study in Compro, almost all courses are programming intensive.

Muhammad Latif Bin Kamaruzzaman was born in Kuala Lumpur but was raised in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. He received his early education in Sekolah Kebangsaan Senawang, Negeri Sembilan until 12 years old. Later, he continued his study and spent 5 years in a boarding school named Sekolah Alam Shah , in Kuala Lumpur until 1999.He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia University, Malaysia under TM (Telekom Malaysia) scholarship. During this period, he learned C-programming in Dr. Chai's classes and complete his final year project supervised by Dr. Chai. As a former TM scholar, he is currently working in TM as an assistant manager-cum-engineer in networking field.

Colin Tan was born in Bagan Serai, Malaysia. He spent his high school years in both SMK Bagan Serai and SMJK Hua Lian, Taiping. Later, he was admitted to Multimedia University, Cyberjaya where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Upon graduation, he opted to become an animator instead. With only his self-taught artwork as his portfolio, he joined a training programme from Rocketfishstudios in Technology Park Malaysia for 6 weeks. He never got to work in that company when the programme ended. He is now working in Animasia studio, Puchong as an intern 2D animator.

Picture Ian Chai was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but has since lived in many other places. Sent to boarding school in Singapore when he was 14, he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas. After that, he worked in Ulm, Germany for a research institute – where he got baptised in the legendary blue Danube. Later, he worked as a technical consultant for the computer division of the Hartford Insurance Company in Connecticut, before finishing up a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). Finally returning to Malaysia, he is now a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at the Cyberjaya campus of Multimedia University. He married Juliane in 2003 and they had a baby, Joni, in 2007

Jonathon David White was born in Oakville, Canada but has since lived in many other countries. Even during his undergraduate days at McMaster University, he already had a cosmopolitan outlook on life, being active in the Chinese Christian Fellowship. After obtaining his Ph.D., also from McMaster University, he worked and taught in China, Japan, and Taiwan – where he met and married Wu Xiuman – and then Malaysia at Multimedia University. After 4 years (1999-2003) in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Melaka campus of Multimedia University, he moved with his family to Taiwan. He is now Associate Professor at Yuan Ze University. He and his wife have one daughter, Ai-en (Charity Grace) and two sons, You-en and Li-En.

In contrast to Dr. Chai's formal education in Computer Science, Dr. White's experience in programming has largely been self-taught on a "need-to-know" basis. His introduction to ANSI-C came in 1994, when he took a position in the Ocean Remote Sensing Institute in Qingdao, China. Upon arrival, he was given a book introducing ANSI-C (in Chinese) and told to interface a computer, laser and detector – allowing him to simultaneously learn ANSI-C and Chinese! This "need-to-know" has resulted in the book's format – Jon asking questions and Ian providing the answers!
